A book could be written about the struggles of people with bad eyesight. I for one would be an advocator of this book, since I am as blind as a bat. We all have probably heard of that one child at the doctor’s office who faked bad eyesight just to wear glasses. The doctor thought I was one of these kids but I sadly and truthfully could not decipher D from O, C from O, etc.… Therefore I clearly needed some eyewear!

The first time I got glasses was in the 3rd grade. I only had to wear them to see the blackboard, but my excitement when picking out my first pair was unreal. Getting this essential accessory made me feel as if I was a new person. Since then, I have gone through many different pairs of glasses and can guarantee that every time I go to pick out new spectacles, I still feel like the tiny third grader getting her glasses for the first time.

Nevertheless, the biggest struggle amongst people with bad vision is finding a pair of spectacles that fit our personal expectations (the perfect style, the right fit for our face, meanwhile praying that we don’t look like soccer mom meets mosquito…), and budget, the deal-breaker. It is so easy to fall in love with a pair of eyeglasses that cost more than we can afford. And sometimes, at the price point that we are comfortable with, the streamlined and fashion forward styles found at higher price points aren’t available, leaving us less feeling defeated.
Luckily, if you identify yourself as an individual with this dilemma, take a look at the label Warby Parker. Offering gorgeous designer eyewear at a revolutionary price, this label provides a solution to a common problem amongst us. By circumventing traditional channel, designing glasses in-house, and engaging with customers directly, this label provides higher-quality, better-looking prescription eyewear at a fraction of the going price. The best of both worlds! What makes this label even more fascinating is its ongoing effort to help the almost one billion people in the world that lack access to proper eyewear; the lack of eyewear impedes work and learning, and makes day to day life a struggle. Warby Parker partners with non-profits like VisionSpring to ensure that for every pair of glasses sold, a pair is distributed to someone in need. Even more amazing!

So if you’re looking for a new pair of specs today, look no further than Warby Parker’s new collection in collaboration with 826 National.  826 National is a nonprofit organization that helps kids cultivate strong writing skills and supports teachers’ work with their students. The Warby Parker x 826 collection features a brand-new pair of frames, Kidd, in the ever- classic Revolver Black, and the production of The Review from 826NYC and 826LA’s Activity Book (created by these amazing kids!) Each limited-edition frame is engraved with an edition number (out of 826 pairs produced) and is available in both optical—in honor of their NYC branch—and sunglasses in honor of their branch in LA. Kidd’s round lenses with a keyhole bridge are the epitome of classic playfulness.
